Today Skill Share Dundee, a charity that I sit on the board for, ran one of our regular workshops – but it was a little different! Myles, one of our workshop teachers, had the idea to build boats from corrugated plastic! He’d found a design online that somebody had done and we set off trying to build one sitting in the sunshine at Broughty Ferry.
We built a prototype boat first – discovering that the corrugated plastic is quite difficult to fold and form!
After making a few adjustments to the design we built our finished boat!
A lot of tape was applied to ensure it floated.
It was such a nice experience to set off on a vessel we’d built by hand – and especially in such a nice environment with loads of friends working together.
Sadly it was not the most sea-worthy vessel… But hey!
